Abdulrazaq Ahmed (born in 1976) is an artist whose creative journey is shaped by an intricate blend of personal experiences and societal reflections. A graduate of Urban and Regional Planning from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria, Ahmed has uniquely harnessed his academic background to inform his artistic practice, bridging the gap between the urban environment and the expressive realms of art.

As a self-taught multidisciplinary artist, Ahmed explores the complexities of human existence through a diverse range of mediums, including acrylics, pencils, charcoal, and burnt newspaper. Each piece serves as a poignant commentary on social catastrophes and the often-overlooked narratives of everyday life. His artwork reflects his inner thoughts and acts as a mirror to society.

Ahmed's style often evokes a sense of intrigue and contemplation. He skillfully intertwines discarded elements with raw emotion, using the process of pyrography—burning newsprint on canvas, painting over it, and then transferring the imagery onto a fresh canvas. Through this technique, he creates figures that are deeply rooted in both personal experiences and his imaginative vision.

Through this unique medium, Ahmed not only captures the essence of feminine identity but also highlights the diverse realities, richness, and inherent gifts of life. Each piece serves as a reflection on the interplay between individual narratives and collective experiences, transforming remnants of the past into a powerful commentary on resilience and the beauty of shared journeys.

Since 2007, he has been actively involved in various art exhibitions both within Nigeria and internationally, showcasing his talent and creative vision to diverse audiences. Notably, he won the silver prize at the 2007 Experience Nigeria Awards, an event established to honor the legacy of the legendary musician Fela Kuti, whose influence continues to resonate in Nigerian arts and culture.

Currently residing in Lagos with his wife and children, Ahmed balances family life with a thriving art career. His work not only reflects his personal experiences but also engages deeply with Nigeria's rich cultural heritage, making him a contemporary artist to watch.
