Rise To the Occasion features a new body of work by artist Tiffani Glenn. As you look around you will easily notice that each piece is saturated in different shades of orange. The subject is surrounded by a red-orange background decorated with lighter shades of orange circles. She chose to use the color orange because not only is it a dynamic color but it is also associated with the evocation of change and transformation. Elements we will all go through in life. In general orange symbolizes success, encouragement, joy, and happiness - everything Glenn aspires to portray in her work.

Most specifically Glenn wants to speak to black women and how important it is for black women to have self love and learn to stand against the negative stereotypes placed upon them in society. To find that self love, transformation and change are particularly important. Glenn believes that self love is the key to wholeness which is the symbolic meaning of the circles in each piece. The blue is a representation of depth and power.
